Miami International Airport Concourse A, Phase II
Miami, Florida

Details

Bermello Ajamil & Partners designed a 10-gate concourse extension interconnecting at four levels. The structure includes ground support for 10 wide-body aircraft, and second and third levels accommodate domestic and international passengers.

The design includes departure lounges with wide expanses of glass offering vistas of aircraft and sky; gates contain elevators and escalators allowing seamless domestic and international connections; moving walkways are located throughout. Terrazzo corridors display the "Art in Public Places" program.

Design responsibilities included newsstand and snack bars, signage, lighting, kitchens and furniture. Compatibility with the first phase of the concourse was critical, as were requirements for physical interfaces, scheduling, phasing, signage and maintenance of traffic flow to maintain the facility operations during construction.
