12th Avenue Bascule Bridge
Miami, Florida

Details

Working with the Florida Department of Transportation, Bermello, Ajamil & Partners is taking part in a three-year, $67 million project replacing an 80-year-old bridge over the Miami River with two double-leaf bascule bridges. The busy Miami corridor along 12th Avenue is a very heavy traffic corridor. Capacity will be tripled by the addition of four lanes. Simultaneously, maritime clearance will increase to 24 feet.

The new structures will incorporate the aesthetic components of the nearby Spring Garden neighborhood. New signals, lighting and drainage will enhance the neighborhood.

B&A has an expertise in movable structure construction, including bascule bridges at the Venetian Causeway and the SW 2nd Avenue Bridge, the largest in the state.
