Located on SW 2nd Avenue, the bascule bridge crosses the Miami Canal and connects downtown Miami to SW 8th Street. Bermello, Ajamil & Partners was awarded the Prime Consultant Contract to provide construction management and technical support to the Florida Department of Transportation.

This bridge replacement project included the construction of a double leaf bascule, operating under a series of hydraulic motors, and spanning a channel width of over 180 linear feet. The Bridge and its approaches include over 60,000-sf of structure.

This state-of-the-art movable construction encompasses all of the required disciplines of engineering and management. B&A’s support staff provided technical and professional expertise as well as senior bridge and roadway inspection and resident compliance.
